Hip Chicks do WINE is an urban boutique winery in Portland, Oregon. Established in 1999 and open for business in August of 2001 by the Wine Goddess, Laurie Lewis and the Wine Maven, Renee Neely two women enamored with the rich history and flavor of Oregon wines but hoping to rescue the fun-at-heart beverage from the stranglehold of vocabulary-obsessed neophytes who mistake wine as a free pass into so-called maturity.

The Hip Chicks fell under the mystique of Oregon wine while touring Wine country one weekend in the mid 1990's, and divined that making wine would be richly fulfilling, ever so romantic and quite a lot of fun.

Hip Chicks do Wine has two intimate tasting rooms that are open to the public during current business hours. The winery also participates in the massive Thanksgiving Day and Memorial Day weekend wine tours that are recognized statewide. The annual Bellybutton Winefest occurs every August and the Squishfest Harvest Party in October. Customers can sample the winery's current releases for a small tasting fee and purchase wine by the glass, bottle or case. In addition, Hip Chick logo wear, wine glasses and gift items are available.

Hip Chicks do Wine wants to make fun wine and wine fun, but co-winemakers Laurie Lewis and Renee Neely are very passionate about the grape and take their winemaking seriously. They hand craft their wine in very small lots with grapes purchased from vineyards located throughout Oregon and Washington.

Hip Chicks do Wine produces 5,000 cases annually. The grapes are processed very gently - hand sorted and pressed by small half-ton basket presses. They ferment their Pinot Noir and other reds in small 4'x4' bins. White wines such as Chardonnay, Muscat and Pinot Gris are fermented at a cool 50ºF in stainless steel tanks to maintain a fresh and fruity style. The chicks experiment with several different yeast strains during fermentation to enhance the wines desired fruit flavors. The Pinot Noir, Cabernet, Merlot and Syrah are aged in French oak barrels to add a subtle complexity while keeping the wines balanced with a fruit forward style. All of this allows you to enjoy their wines with dinner tonight-no cellaring required.
